Ash Wednesday begins the 40-day season of Lent, a time of reflection and penitence. Ash Wednesday reminds us that all external forms are passing away and eoncourages us not to cling to the external things of life. Participants will receive the sign of the cross made of ashes (from burnt palm branches from last year's Palm Sunday service) on their forheads as a sign of sorrow and repentance. A second service will be at 7 pm in the evening.
