DESCRIPTION:You're invited to St. George's to learn about the work of Canad
ian not-for-profit organization PeaceGeeks\, and their support of displace
d persons.\nEric Hansen from PeaceGeeks writes:\n"More than 100 million pe
ople around the world are displaced from their homes. I suspect these refu
gees and immigrants want to feel the way I do as I write this\, and the wa
y I hope you feel as you read it: safe and secure in a place I call home.\
nPeaceGeeks is a Canadian based charity that builds websites and mobile ap
ps to help displaced people find safety and essential resources in countri
es around the world. One of our free tools\, WelcomeCoach.ca\, is funded e
ntirely by supporters and donors. It has helped hundreds of thousands of n
ewcomers to Canada settle sooner\, so they can thrive\, build their homes\
, and strengthen our communities.\nOur technology serves refugees and immi
grants directly\, and it also helps volunteers and other nonprofits reach
more people through affordable digital tools\, websites and niche phone ap
ps\, technology tools for effective help. \nMost nonprofits still rely he
avily on paper\, yet most refugees and immigrants have smartphones. We hel
p bridge that gap. We started as a grassroots organization a decade ago an
d have since been recognized and supported by the United Nations\, Accentu
re and governments but we need to grow our grassroots support from individ
uals to keep our work going."\nOn Wonderful Wednesday\, November 4\, we'll
explore questions like:\n\nCan artificial intelligence be used ethically?
\nHow is PeaceGeeks helping more health care workers get into jobs in Brit
ish Columbia?\nHow are programs like our Skilled Newcomers and Professiona
ls Partnership (SNAPP) mentoring helping strengthen the Canadian economy d
uring a trade war and as our population ages?\n\nCoffee at 9:45am\; discus
 sion 10-11:30am\nQuestions? phone 250-472-2090 email admin@stgeorgecadbor
