Starting this Sunday, Sept. 18, until and including Thanksgiving Sunday Oct. 9, the Altar Guild  will be collecting non-perishable food items again for the Shelbourne Community Kitchen.  Boxes will be in the Narthex for dropping off food. Fresh produce can be donated on Oct. 9th only. ** Items in the Fish/Beans/Nuts category are especially welcome right now.

 Most needed items:

  • Canned beans (chickpeas, black beans, kidney beans etc rather than baked beans or green beans)
  • Canned fish (tuna, salmon etc)
  • Canned meats
  • Peanut butter 

Fresh foods:

  • Potatoes
  • Onions
  • Carrots & other root vegetables

Please bring fresh produce to church on Friday, Saturday or Sunday 7-9 October only

SCK is able to accept these items:

Vegetables: Low-sodium canned vegetables and vegetable juices, canned tomatoes, and pasta sauces

Fruits: Canned fruit, sugar-free applesauce, dried fruit, 100% fruit juices

**Fish/Beans/Nuts: Peanut/nut butters, canned tuna or salmon, canned and dried beans/lentils/pulses (chickpeas, black beans, kidney beans etc rather than baked beans or green beans)

Drinks/Dairy Alternatives: Coffee, tea, shelf- stable unsweetened milk alternatives (rice, soy, almond, coconut etc.)

Grains: Rice, pasta, whole grain cereals, oatmeal, crackers, granola bars, gluten-free options

Cooking Oils: Olive, canola, and vegetable oils

Baking/Spices: flour, baking soda, white and brown sugar, salt, pepper, garlic powder, dried basil, oregano, thyme, curry powder, cumin, chilli powders, cinnamon, baking spices etc.

Toiletries and personal hygiene supplies: toilet paper, feminine hygiene products, soaps and lotions etc. 

 

 SKC does not accept:

  • Home canned goods of any kind
  • Items that have been opened or partially used
  • Items that are not in their original packages
  • Cans/packages with severe damage or without labels
  • Fresh/Frozen meats including uninspected wild game
  • Dairy products or eggs
