Financial update for June 2024

from the Treasurer

Here is a summary of Parish income and expenses for June 2024:
Income: $26,400, of which

  • Offerings: $23,800
  • Rental: $2,600
  • Other: $0

Expenses: $ 36,100, of which

  • Salaries: $15,800
  • Synod: $5,600
  • Other: $14,700

Balance: ($9,700)

Note that this accounting reflects the date of bank deposits or cheques cashing, rather than when the expenses occurred or donation was made. Salary expenditures were slightly lower than normal.

The major expense in ‘Other’ was $12,000 of donations to other charities as Missions; there are another $3,200 in cheques sent but not yet cashed. ‘Other’ also included $1000 associated with fire code compliance, including new exit signs and signage about exit plans.

Curious Objects Needed

Curious Objects Needed

Do you have an object which would spark a good conversation, cause someone marvel at the natural world, or wonder what does that thingamabob do? It could be a fossil, pointe shoes, or a tool for a specific job.  I am looking for anything interesting that a child might not ordinarily see.

Could the Sunday School borrow your object for one Sunday morning? (And if you are wiling, would you come for 5 minutes and talk about your object.  It is so nice for the children to meet people in the congregation.)

This summer the Sunday School’s teaching unit is called The Genesis Museum.  We are going to be talking about many Curious Objects and marvel at a world filled with beauty and wonder and remind us how much God loves us.

Audio-only sermons

In response to parishioner requests, we are now producing audio-only recordings of just the Sunday sermons (recorded during the 9.30 service) in addition to the live stream video of the whole service.

Finding a sermon: from the menu options near the top of the home page on the parish website , click Growing in our Faith > SERMONS. Sermons are listed in chronological order, most recent at the top.

Finding the audio recording: On a sermon page, the audio is always displayed below the YouTube video link. It does not have a title, a picture, or a section border:

  • Click the grey triangle to start playing; when playing, it changes to a Pause button || .
  • Skip forward or ahead by hovering over and clicking on or sliding the indicator on the horizontal grey line.
  • Click the loudspeaker icon to mute and unmute
  • Control volume with the blue bar (louder = right of centre on the bar, quieter = left of centre on the bar).
