In the week of 2 July 2023 we pray for The Rt. Rev. David Greenwood, Bishop, and the clergy and people of the Diocese of Athabasca.

With our Evangelical Lutheran partners we also pray for Let there be greening – Assembly 2023: gathering of Anglicans and Lutherans and  celebrating the 20th Anniversary of Full Communion.

The Diocese of Athabasca covers the northern half of the civil province of Alberta [source: Wikipedia].

A list of the diocese's 17 parishes, with great photos, is here.

The diocesan cathedral of St James, built in 1911, is in Peace River. Here is a short history of the cathedral parish and the present building.

The diocesan newsletter is the Anglican Messenger, jointly with the neighbouring Diocese of Edmonton. Other diocesan news updates for Athabasca are posted here.
