The Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of British Columbia and the Bishop of the British Columbia Synod (ELCIC) seek a part-time incumbent/pastor for the parish of Holy Trinity Anglican + Lutheran, Port Alberni.
OUR MINISTRY
Trinity Anglican + Lutheran Church is a combined congregation of two Anglican parishes and one ELCIC Lutheran church. We are proud of our ecumenical identity, regularly alternating between Anglican and Lutheran liturgical traditions. We are a diverse, affirming congregation of all ages, life stages, and backgrounds. We welcome gender-diverse members and celebrate this openly with a rainbow bench at our entrance.
Our worship services blend Eucharist and Services of the Word, led by ordained clergy when available, or one of three Licensed Lay Ministers. Music and worship planning draw on both Anglican and Lutheran resources, supported by gifted musicians, choir members, and a committed organist. We are a growing congregation of approximately 37 regular Sunday attendees and a thriving bi-weekly Sunday School. Our community hall is busy with regular rentals and outreach events.
BACKGROUND
We are an equitable employer that operates on Vancouver Island, the Gulf Islands and the Broughton Archipelago. As an institution we acknowledge the Coast Salish, Nuu-chah-nulth, and Kwakwaka'wakw nations whose relationship with these lands and waters is ongoing. We acknowledge our role in the historic dispossession of land, language, and culture, and are committed to being a part a reconciliatory path forward. We are a progressive church where seekers are welcome to receive communion, baptism, marriage, and ordination on an equal basis.
