Prayers and readings for Sunday 17 May 2026 and the following week:
We pray for Anna, our bishop, and Allen, our rector. In our parish cycle of prayer, we pray for the Altar Guild.
This week our diocese prays for the Abbey Church & Emmaus Community.
In our ecclesiastical province's cycle of prayer, we pray for the Diocese of New Westminster and Archbishop John Stephens.
We continue to hold the community of Tumbler Ridge in our prayers. We pray for all the people of the town and in particular the families of all those who have died. We pray for all affected for by the devastating news: parents, family members, fellow students, teachers, first responders, medical teams, neighbours, those with links to the town and the province as a whole. We pray that they will know of God’s love and peace in this time. That they will know that they do not walk alone in the dark valley. That they will know the love of neighbour supporting in any way possible. That all of us deeply touched by this tragedy may know God’s hope.
This week the Anglican Church of Canada prays for The Rt. Rev. William Cliff, Bishop, and the clergy and people of the Diocese of Ontario.
In the Anglican Communion cycle of prayer, we pray for The Anglican Church of Papua New Guinea.
Collect: God unheld by word or wall, lift us from dullness and cynical contempt; make us ready for your Spirit of transforming power; and turn our hearts to the mending of the world, through Jesus Christ, the name above all names. Amen. (Prayers for an Inclusive Church (2009) alt.)
