3rd quarter financial updatefrom the Rector and the Treasurer Dear St. Philip parishioners, Thanks for being such a great support to the ministry of our congregation and to the ministries that we support in Victoria and around the world. Each of you contribute in unique and irreplaceable ways. Thank you for your financial support; your gifts allow us to support the existing ministries of our parish, but they also allow us to dream of how we might be more effective in serving our neighbours in the spirit of invitation and welcome. God's beauty, truth and goodness is closer to them (and to us) than we know! A special thanks to Mark Laidlaw for taking on the task of Parish Treasurer and putting together these quarterly reports which help us make decision about our personal giving as well as helping Parish Council and Wardens plan for the future work of this congregation. You are all invited to either our in-person pre-budget meeting on Sunday, Oct 20th after coffee hour or to our Zoom meeting on Tuesday, October 29th at 7 pm. Both meetings will cover the same material and offer opportunities for input and questions. With gratitude for Christ's gifts to each of us, Allen+

Mar Elias fund raiser - 27 October
For the past several years, St Philip has been sending an annual donation to Mar Elias Maronite Church in Rablah, Syria (approx.. $2500 annually). Due to changes with Canada Revenue, this year it is not possible. As Mar Elias is not a registered Canadian charity, there are issues with donating tax-exempt funds to them. We want to continue supporting the church in Syria, so we need to raise money that is not tax exempt. Next Sunday Oct 27, the parish Missions Committee will be collecting money to send to Mar Elias. Please help us raise money to support Mar Elias which uses the funds to buy food and clothing for the poor in their district. As the economy continues to worsen in Rablah, the need continues to grow. Thank you so much for whatever you can give.
