Congratulations Reba and Mona

Congratulations to the Rev. Rebecca Yeo and the Rev. Mona Smart who were ordained priests on June 8th, 2025 at Christ Church Cathedral in Victoria!

Rev. Rebecca will be with us this Sunday, no longer as Deacon but to celebrate their first Eucharist! Please come and support Rev. Rebecca as they complete their time at St Philip, and share this very special moment in the life of a new priest.

Next week - Parish Picnic!

Next week - Parish Picnic!

and year-end Blessing for Graduands - Sunday, June 22, 2025

We have scheduled our annual parish picnic for June 22nd after our 9:30 AM worship service.  This is a relaxed and fun opportunity to bring family, friends and neighbours to celebrate the wonderful community we share at St. Philip. We look forward to giving a warm St Philip welcome to some of the community from St Matthias Fairfield at our service and picnic as well.

If you would like to organize activities and games, please contact Allen (incumbent@stphilipvictoria.ca),  Larry (lanthony@stphilipvictoria.ca) or Judith (jarmstrong@stphilipvictoria.ca).

Please send Fr. Allen any names for the list of graduands and educators (any program or level) for a special blessing during the service on the 22nd: incumbent@stphilipvictoria.ca

Please note: we will be taking photographs throughout the picnic time that may be posted on our church website or social media.

Examen Prayer check-in & discussion

Examen Prayer check-in & discussion

Thursday, July 3, 2025

Starting in July, and continuing in tandem with future book study/discussion series, on the first Thursdays of the month at 10.30, following the morning service, there will be a regular Examen check-in and discussion (3 July, 4 Aug, 7 Sept etc). This will provide support and continuity for those who have already started with Examen prayer, and anyone is welcome to drop in/begin at any point as well, no prior experience needed.

Hearing Loop System

Hearing Loop System

The Church has a loop system that may assist people with hearing loss by diminishing background noise. This system has been disconnected for an extended period of time. For people wearing older hearing aids, they would have to turn on the T function. For people with newer hearing aids, they should discuss with an audiologist if their hearing aid can be adjusted internally to benefit from a loop system. If people learn that could in fact benefit, please let me know and arrangements will be made to get the system operational.

Island Deaf and Hard of Hearing, a non-profit society, employs two audiologists. For people in financial need, donated hearing aids can be made functional for their hearing needs at no cost. For people that purchase hearing aids through IDHH for the same price as commercial retailers, all funds are used to support the numerous programs offered by the Society.

Job posting: St Mary's seeks part-time Creative Coordinator

from St Mary's Oak Bay

The Church of St Mary the Virgin in Oak Bay is seeking a part-time Creative Coordinator to provide leadership in promoting music and arts events at St Mary’s that serve the wider community. Please note this is not a vacancy at St Philip.

The Creative Coordinator will have a chance to develop space for the Arts in Victoria, work creatively and collaboratively with local artists, and play a key role in St Mary’s work in and for the community. We expect the position to require 10 hours/week on average – cyclical depending on event frequency – and will pay $1,400/month. For further information, a full position description, and to submit an application package, contact incumbent@stmarysoakbay.ca. Applications close June 13, 2025.
