All are invited to join Bishop Anna and The Rev. Christine Conkin for a summer retreat on beautiful Salt Spring Island. We will spend time reflecting together on our call to be the salt of the earth amidst the very real challenges of these turbulent 2020s. We’ll talk about power and empires and how the church needs to organise and mobilize in order to incarnate God’s love and justice.
Schedule:
Tuesday, August 4, 4:30 pm. Registration, dinner and first session.
Wednesday, August 5, 9 am -12 Morning session followed by free afternoon.
Wednesday, August 5, 5 pm Evening Prayer followed by dinner and evening session.
Thursday, August 6. 9 am - 12 Final session and closing Eucharist.
Registration is $100 and includes two dinners.
Participants need to make their own transportation arrangements and find their own accommodation on Salt Spring Island. Options are below and you are encouraged to make your reservation as soon as possible as Salt Spring always fills up in the summer time.
Local Hotels: Salt Spring Inn https://saltspringinn.com/ and https://www.harbourhousessi.com/ are both walking distance from the church.
Campgrounds: The Mowhinna Creek Campground https://mowhinnacreekcampground.com/ is only 4 minute drive or a 15 minute bike ride from the church and has both RV and tent sites. Oceanfront Ruckle Provincial Park https://bcparks.ca/ruckle-park/ is a 24 minute drive from the church and has a campground that can be booked three months ahead.
Marinas: The https://www.gangesmarina.com/ and https://saltspringmarina.com/ are both walking distance from the church.
Other: There are various B&Bs, inns and rental properties on Salt Spring Island.
