n this scripture from John’s gospel, Jesus tells his disciples to “not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures for eternal life” (John 6:27). What is meant by the concept of eternal life? This idea has been explored since the beginning of time by theologians, mystics and scientists alike. I will attempt to unpack a little of what Jesus may have been alluding to in this passage and what it might mean for us today.
