Volunteers needed - Church Entrance refresh
In the next month we are going to be sprucing up the exterior of the parking lot (west) entrance to the church - painting, much-needed maintenance, installation of a new wooden cross, and updated fascia on the planter box. We hope to have it all looking fresh and welcoming in time for September. We’re looking for volunteers who can help get the work done, either mid-week or on Saturday mornings, throughout August. Can you lend a hand to help? Many hands make light work, and this will be a great opportunity to get to know other parishioners while contributing to the future of the church in a very practical way! Text Ged at 778 967 2494 or send an email to gedmclean@gmail.com to figure out a time and tasks! - Ged McLean |

Recent Spam And Phishing Attemptsfrom Anna Dear all, A new twist: even emails from normally trustworthy email addresses can be suspect. Two island parishes were hacked last week and sent round a legit-looking request to log in with Microsoft credentials to view an invoice. Fortunately I thought it was odd that another parish would be sending me (and the rest of the lower Island parish admins) any invoice, let alone all the same one, so I called their office to check with the real admin, who said it wasn't from her. They are getting ever sneakier, so we have to be ever more attentive and critical. If you're not expecting a message with an attachment or a link to click, even from an email address of someone you know, delete the message and check with them via non-email means. If it was legit, they can always send it again. Generally, previous advice does still apply as well, and there have been more emails lately purporting to come from "Rev. Allen Doerksen" at various bogus addresses. For more infomation visit: http://stphilipvictoria.ca/news/recent-spam-and-phishing-attempts

Summer projects
Narthex painting is progressing well, and continues through the coming week. All will be dry and cleaned up for Sunday, but do avoid touching the brand new paint, including trim. The request to use the south side door and stairs near the altar during the week continues for another couple of weeks, as the narthex and office carpet will be laid on 6-7 August (Tues-Wed), and work on the doors and around the main entrance begins (see above). Please be careful of ladders, drop cloths, cans of paint, and other equipment if you are visiting the church during the week.
