NEW: Sunday Morning Community Prayers

NEW: Sunday Morning Community Prayers

Anyone who wishes to drop in at 9 AM on a Sunday morning is welcome to gather downstairs in the youth room to pray together for our church community, led by Ruth.  Praying together is probably the most obvious and maybe most powerful thing we can do! We depend on God's wisdom and blessing for this community to flourish. If you're coming to church on Sunday morning, please consider staying half an hour later or coming a half hour early, to spend time in prayer for God's direction for our community.

- Ruth McGhee and Fr. Allen

Contemplative Prayer

Please join us on Tuesday mornings, 10:30 - 11:30, meeting in the choir area of the nave (at the front of the church), for a 20 minute contemplative sit with a time of prayer following.

Our last "sit" of 2023 will be December 5th. We will take a break over the Christmas period and start meeting again on January 9th.

Meal Train containers needed

Meal Train containers needed

As our new Meal Train system gathers steam, we’d like to ask people if they would donate containers for meal providers to use: casserole dishes or take out food containers, in good condition.  They will be added to the parish kitchen to be used and returned.  Please put containers in the marked donation box downstairs in the kitchen.   More members of the Meal Train team are welcome too! For questions or more information, contact Karen, 250-508-2498, karenfenimore@gmail.com

Christmas Cookie Exchange at St Philip

Christmas Cookie Exchange at St Philip

Friday, December 8, 2023

Christmas Cookie Exchange: Friday, December 8, following the carols, downstairs. Bring your favourite homebaked Christmas cookies, packaged in dozens, to exchange for an assortment of the same number of dozen cookies made by others.  Bring one kind and take home others, take away as many cookies as you bring.  A great way to get a wide assortment of homebaked Christmas cookies without doing all the baking yourself! To participate in the cookie exchange, please sign up on sheets at the back of the church or by contacting Barb at barmar6@icloud.com

Street Hope Victoria - Christmas appeal

Street Hope Victoria - Christmas appeal

From Shoeboxes to Bags:  Every year because of your kindness, SHV gives out Christmas shoeboxes to people who are living their lives on or around Pandora. Because of your generosity we gave out over double the Christmas shoeboxes from the year previous – thank you so much for this! This year, instead of asking for shoeboxes we’d love to give out drawstring bags with goodies wrapped in Christmas paper inside.

The deadline for our Christmas appeal this year is Thursday 7th December. We’ll be giving out the presents on the 11th and 18th of December.  Thank you for your support!

In Christ,
Deborah

2024 Church calendars

2024 Church calendars

For those wondering what's happened to the Anglican Church photo calendar for the coming year - it's a good question. We usually placed orders in September, but there's been no announcement that it's ready to order this year. Although it's finally advertised (November), so far it's not available to buy on the national church web shop. Enquiries to the shop company and the church publications office have gone unanswered.

But the calendar has been compiled and is print-ready: CLICK HERE for all 12 calendar pages with colour photos and liturgical notations & colours. NB not full resolution. Maybe the print copies will be available in the new year? We'll keep you posted...

If you're looking for a print alternative, try this calendar from St Peter's Publications in PEI, illustrated with attractive paintings of Anglican churches throughout Canada, $10.00 plus shipping: CLICK HERE
