Picnic thanks
Thank you to everyone who, despite the occasional rain drop, attended and enjoyed the parish picnic last Sunday. The festivities were made brighter when we were joined by a cheerful group of parishioners from St Matthias, which offered a wonderful opportunity to share fellowship and begin getting to know each other better. Our picnics draw on the talents and efforts of many people. We enjoyed contributions of salads, cookies, cornbread and other tasty dishes. It was a wonderful surprise when more people than expected arrived early and got the tables and chairs set up in record time. A hard-working team prepared and served the meal; and many hands made light work of cleaning up and putting everything away. Thank you to everyone who contributed to our community’s picnic, in whatever way you contributed. Our especial gratitude goes to Joan Sedgwick and Melinda Budgell for the fun and games that the kids so enjoyed, and to Larry Anthony for his talent in tying balloon animals. - Evelyn and Clayton Savage |

Request for a lift to church
David Larsen, a parishioner at St Philip, lives on Bowker Ave near Eastdowne and would like to come to church, but is not able to get here on his own. Is there someone who might be able to give him a lift? There would need to be room in the car for his walker as well. Please contact the office for details: admin@stphilipvictoria.ca |

Hearing Loop System
The Church has a loop system that may assist people with hearing loss by diminishing background noise. This system has been disconnected for an extended period of time. For people wearing older hearing aids, they would have to turn on the T function. For people with newer hearing aids, they should discuss with an audiologist if their hearing aid can be adjusted internally to benefit from a loop system. If people learn that could in fact benefit, please let me know and arrangements will be made to get the system operational. Island Deaf and Hard of Hearing, a non-profit society, employs two audiologists. For people in financial need, donated hearing aids can be made functional for their hearing needs at no cost. For people that purchase hearing aids through IDHH for the same price as commercial retailers, all funds are used to support the numerous programs offered by the Society. - Karen Van Rheenen |

Mustard Seed clothing donation request
From the Mustard Seed: Our stock of adult clothing is extremely low, and the greatest need right now is for men’s clothing—specifically pants, shirts, and shoes. While donations of women’s clothing are always appreciated, we are especially in need of gently used and freshly laundered men’s items to support the growing number of requests we’re receiving. If you have any men’s clothing you’re able to donate, or know someone who might, we’d be so grateful. Donations can be dropped off at 625 Queens Ave or brought to St Philip.
